Katherine
15:17
|
|||
Opening with darkness Katherine drew in the night,
The walls went up blazing, she gave us all she got.
*Whither this lifetime tending [Your pain describes me]
In the light we were burning [This rope between us].
Maybe she’s a dancer, maybe she’s cursing at the stars,
Whichever direction, crimson deepens in the dark.*
While we wade oceans, evening clouds deform,
Into Skyless Country, we don’t feel anymore.*
Impossible to theorize, or to make sense of it all,
Kathy lies quiet, her eyes soft in the light.*

Guide to Ravens
07:12
|
|||
THE RAVENS’ range is wide and low, without a warning he bags a soul,
Wraps the doll in rags and chains, within a house of blood and pain.
Momma fingers the window dust, heaves a smile for the child she’s lost,
Mass appeals on the walls, seeking answers with a number to call.
*The days are done, nights ride on, it seems like everyone has gone,
All the birds have flown leaving you with an eye to the storm.
Someday gonna make or break, outta this world into the next,
Just when hope comes to the door, reality knocks ya to the floor.*
At evening time the time of prayer, everybody looks on an empty chair,
It ain’t right and the facts ain’t fair, they pray so deep in deep despair.
Cloaked within familiar skin, the friendly Raven walks right in,
Shake a face in disbelief, scenes unfold across the street.*

A Place Between
10:31
|
|||
I ain’t nobody special don’t come in a suit
Have little to show still paying dues
War is a crime as is to rob a child
Of a right to live with so much love to give
The zigs and the zags were coming for me
Was a wint’ry day and it wasn’t a dream
I was marched through the gates where a string quartet
Played perfect tones for the walking dead
If your down on your luck don’t expect very much
You can find me in a place between
You know those chimneys blow the hopes of ghosts
And in the ashen heaps rats are gatherin’ teeth
They’ll scour the ground and scorch the earth
Leavin’ open wounds where richness once stood
So they came and they left behind iron gates
A carbon trace and the stench of death
Among the skins and bones, two eyes were blinkin’
I thought I could hear what the dyin’ were thinkin’
After all of this I then understood
The subject of hate in a rotten world
War is a crime as is to rob a child
Of a right to live with so much love to give

Divinity Winds
04:07
|
|||
There’s no end to the wind that blows in my head,
Fantasies spin dream begets dream,
Flowers turned inward bloom in the dark,
Awkward in repose, withered and starved.
Night after night you appear in the light,
To a crying man dyin’ whose faith is on fire,
No measure can measure the pulse that I feel,
When divinity winds send your body to me.
Now the stables are filled with stallions and mares,
Hoping to run with the desert free air,
Awakening bells lift birds from the sea,
Through mountains of music on a tremblin’ breeze.
To us they think we must differ from them,
Just look at the marking’s they’ve marked on our skin,
Wasting away these fragments of life,
The pulse of the winds guide our hearts to the light.
Wasting away in these fragments of life,
The pulse of the winds guide our hearts to the light.

Every Heart Every Star
06:36
|
|||
Imagine me behind your eyes,
Mercury falls by the timberline.
What’s to come from burning rain,
Looking at you I’m afraid.
Every heart full of life fades away,
Every star shining bright will decay,
Night has fallen, there's no forestalling,
Since the winds changed.
Before the dawn emotion splits,
A private pause then the fuse was lit.
Who seeks the flame, shall witness heat,
A change for whom the harvest reaps.
Out of the fog news spread swift,
The Rising Sun fell to the west.
Trumpets blow for sleeping souls,
Tell your heart I said hello.

Getaway Road
05:09
|
|||
The road plunges westward leading nowhere passed,
Abandoned homes with foundations cracked,
Dozens of eagles tighten their whirl,
Imagine a cowboy in a destitute world.
Some desert roses fail to bloom,
Kept cold in the dark without water or food,
Down Getaway Road there’s thousands of tracks,
Some choose their own others leave it to chance.
An old Chevy sleeps with its eyes on the street,
Its pistons are fused and the motor has peaked,
The sun charges west, coyotes are lingerin’ round,
Above the horizon the moon lifts – from the clouds.
Time honors those who leave a mark,
A shallow footprint or a deeper scar,
Waves become ripples, seas rise over land,
The loftiest of mountains erode into sand.
